9/10/2005· Add in tiny amounts from about one part per 5000 to one part per 3000, depending on the vehicle -- just a few ounces per ten gallons of gas. This comes to between 0.0003 % to 0.0025 % acetone maximum or approximately 1/15th of one-percent. Note that is around .78 cc per liter or one ounce per 10 gallons. One more thing that acetone will do is capture and run water out of your fuel lines and tank, by sending it through the coustion path. The water ends up in your gas because of the ethanol mixed in with it. Ethanol, which forms an azeotrope with water, pulls water from the air.

11/5/2005· If a little acetone (or anything, for that matter) could significantly improve mileage, I am sure that GM, Ford and other SUV manufacturers who have seen sales plummet with high fuel prices would adopt a system to have acetone in a separate 1 gallon tank, and blend it into the fuel tank in the right proportion.
